By implementing this project, we wanted our students to make the most of it. We wanted them to learn and share knowledge through a unique intercultural experience. Besides, we wanted to ensure that all students had the possibility to access culture and improve their qualifications abroad. Our first objective was concerned with the development of personal and professional skills that could make students' way into the professional world easier. Our second objective aimed at sharing knowledge and good practices with a different organization, in order to motivate students to work harder, learn as much as possible and make them proud of their roots, local products and skills. Finally, it was our aim to allow an enriching experience abroad to underpriviledged students, who usually do not have the chance to travel, study or meet people in a different intercultural context. This last objective honours the motto of our organization: we struggle to ensure that underprivileged students, either by sociocultural, economic or special needs reasons, have the same access to educational opportunities. From a teacher’s point of view, we also wanted to enrich our pedagogy and promote new, meaningful and enriching experiences to our students.
Our project is the result of our wish to broaden students' horizons. Being located in a rural area, our school faces several challenges. We welcome students from our municipality and the nearby ones and, despite their low socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, we try to ensure that each and every student has the same opportunities to develop their individual talent, and, for those attending a vocational course, our organization works hard to help them develop the necessary set of skills to start work in their field of studies. Besides, we try to show our students that lifelong learning, creativity, collaboration, digital skills and intercultural communication are essential nowadays. Probably that is one of the reasons why our organization has obtained EQAVET certification for the second time and for the maximum time frame. For our first ERASMUS+ VET project, we chose a self-explanatory title: In seach of new horizons. We also chose a neighbour country where students from three different fields - mechanics, cooking and pastry and tourism - could start their intercultural communication, as well as their learning and sharing experience in accordance to the four principles of ERASMUS+.
