The Agrupamento de Escolas de Valdevez is a group of educational establishments ranging from kindergarten to the end of secondary education. The VET courses are taught in the old secondary school, a space shared with the school education courses. The VET courses are mostly made up of students who are not very motivated by schooling, although they have a technical profile that fits the profession they are preparing for. What is felt at the school is that some issues, particularly those related to citizenship, need to be addressed in greater depth. In this sense, the aim is to obtain professionals with technical training, yes, but also complete individuals, i.e. prepared for the labour market by developing other skills that will allow them to face it in the context of versatility and flexibility. In this sense, the biggest challenges are the implementation of new practices that meet innovation projects that promote the fusion of technology with entrepreneurial activity; the generalisation of the use of simulators or digital mechanisms and teaching resources specific to the sectors and the development of a spirit of European citizenship.
