Equal access and transition to labour marketInternational relations and development cooperationOvercoming skills mismatch and addressing the needs of the labour market

Objectives

The two main objectives that were referred to when the school submitted the application were: - Acquire professional skills that would relate to the needs of the companies/enterprises in the area (where the school is located and in a wider area); - Increase the number of international partnerships so as to be more collaborative in Erasmus projects and also increase the number of Erasmus projects at the school. Though these were the two main objectives, there were others that we consider intrinsec to the educational system and Vocational Education and Training. For example, leraning new practices; improve the learning process for students with fewer opportunities; increase the possibility of employment in Portugal or abroad. Overall, EPVL wanted to achieve excellence by giving opportunities to students with fewer opportunities and teachers a chance to interact with new realities and exchange good practices and experience.

Background

Escola Profissional Vasconcellos Lebre is located in Mealhada and it is an accredited school. It was founded in 1991 and its main focus is youngsters and adults as it also has an Adult Education Centre. The aim of the school is to provide knowledge, skills and the development of attitudes that will allow youngsters to integrate society and the labour market successfully. The school wants to be a reference. At present, we have VET courses related to different areas - Health, Sports, Hospitality, Education, Computer systems, Mechatronics, Management and Media. Regarding this current project, we want to continue to give our students the chance to broaden their horizons culturally and workwise so as to become better professionals and citizens. Through this Erasmus project, students and teachers have the chance to work in different places, meeting new people and challenging themselves to become better.
