Objectives

The Nursing School of Coimbra sees internationalisation as a strategic axis for the development of the institution and nursing education, giving quality to students' training paths through the experiences they have had, but also through the scientific and cultural development of the teaching staff. With the mobility of technical staff, the aim is to improve the quality of the organisation and provision of administrative services through international experiences. In this sense, the Erasmus+ programme is key to meeting the pedagogical objectives inherent in internationalisation, including cognitive, social and psycho-affective skills. Interaction with different realities and contexts allows for the development of cultural competences that make a significant contribution to the paradigm of healthcare complexity in which we find ourselves. We also believe that the experience of living in different contexts enhances leadership skills, particularly in the face of uncertainty and diversity. Mobility is based on creating synergies in the fields of teaching, research and innovation. Based on these collaborative activities, we believe there will be repercussions in terms of improving the quality of teaching processes and learning outcomes, with a significant impact on the skills profile acquired by students, projecting greater success in employability by fostering each student's identity as a European citizen. The internationalisation process promotes the visibility of the institution, but also of the reality of nursing education in Portugal, by publicising projects and the excellent training of Portuguese nurses, attracting the attention and curiosity of different partners for international mobility experiences in Portugal. On the other hand, it prepares nurses for Europe and the world
