The Erasmus+ ALSUD consortium was set up in 2012 on the initiative of five higher education institutions (HEIs) in southern Portugal, namely the University of Lisbon (ULISBOA), the Setúbal Polytechnic Institute (IP SETÚBAL), the University of Évora (UÉVORA), the Beja Polytechnic Institute (IP BEJA), and the University of the Algarve (UALG). The consortium's mission is to strengthen the partners' internationalization strategies, relying for this purpose on the synergies generated by sharing knowledge and resources. In this context, the consortium's objectives, and those of this project in particular, are as follows: a) to increase the number of participants in mobility; b) to improve the employability and differentiation of students and recent graduates; c) to strengthen the link between the partner HEIs and the business environment by promoting the offer of professional internships in Portugal; d) to promote staff training; e) to publicize the cooperation opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ Program; f) to promote the holding of blended intensive programmes; g) promote the adoption of more flexible, inclusive and sustainable mobility formats; h) contribute to building the capacity of the HEIs that are part of the Consortium, strengthening their national and international positioning, facilitating access to funding and participation in larger cooperation projects; i) promote the sharing of good practices, solutions and experiences between higher education institutions.
