During the different activities of the project the main objectives was to establish some baseline data for the participants' interest like: perception, behaviour and opinion leadership and also to assess aspects of the project such as, the methodology and applicability; expected results; engagement; local development… This project was aimed at developing a local fun and sustainable early rural education program. We started the program in a small community and expanded it to neighbouring villages by engaging kids, their families, and local institutions in action-based learning. The project achieved its greatest goal of producing generation after generation of sustainably minded, environmentally conscious people. The Happy Green Children Project helped children develop behavioural patterns to adopt new eco-friendly habits. We organized workshops and seminars to raise awareness among teachers, public administrators, and families about the importance of respecting the environment. We emphasized how our actions today will determine the quality of life we have in the future. Some of the main objectives was the Eco education to alert local communities of the causes, impact and consequences of climate change.
We are recycling more and more, but it's not enough. The latest data from OECD shows that its members recycle, on average, barely 36% of their municipal waste. At an individual level only seven states exceeded 50% and regions such as OECD-Europe were within six points of the approved rate, with 44%. In the meantime, waste is gaining ground. The World Bank (WB) warned in 2018 that urban areas produce more than 2 billion tons of solid waste annually, a figure that could increase by 70% by 2050 if we do not take urgent action. The WB itself urges countries to improve their waste management and generate less waste through consumer education and support for recycling programmes. Raising awareness of local communities as a tool for energy saving, together within a management recreative framework approach that will help Portugal and Spain Rural Communities to understand and learn how their behaviour can impact the energy consumption and eco situation. Our need was to empower trainers, families and local communities with knowledge about climate change and sustainable energy and to promote a culture of recycling of everyday life. We thing we have reached this.
