Objectives

The objectives pursued were: General Objective: - Preserve and promote local cultural heritage Specific Objectives: 1 Identify existing and unknown cultural actors and activities in the rural area 2 Promote the inclusion of the rural population through access to culture 3Increase visibility and access to the development of traditional crafts in the rural area 4Share experiences with partner organizations at the transnational level 5Disseminate project results at the local, national, and European levels To achieve these objectives, specific activities were implemented to gradually achieve them in order to fulfill the general objective. In this way, the mapping carried out along with visits to local cultural actors allowed for the identification of local actors and crafts, providing greater knowledge of the target group, as well as generating products (maps and video interviews) to further preserve and promote heritage, and improve and facilitate access to it. Workshops aimed to promote the inclusion of the local community, valorize traditional crafts, and facilitate access to heritage. Transnational meetings, DEOR activities and the InfoKit, enabled the exchange of experiences, best practices and dissemination in different levels

Background

The motivation for the following project arises from an understanding of the complexities facing rural areas compared to major urban centers, which have resulted in a continuous exodus of the population and the consequent depopulation of rural areas. In this regard, as pointed out by the Erasmus+ Inclusion and Diversity Strategy and the European Solidarity Corps (European Commission, 2021), these disadvantages entail reduced access to services, educational opportunities, development level, deterioration of culture and local cultural heritage, among others, making it urgent to take consistent action in rural areas. Taking the above into account, the main needs addressed during the project implementation were the lack of greater preservation and promotion of local cultural heritage (especially intangible knowledge of various cultural actors), the lack of training/education opportunities faced by the rural population, the scarcity of access to cultural activities, and the difficulty of accessing transnational networks or spaces by the rural community.
