The overall objective of the project is to contribute to increasing the capacity of the organizations to manage an effective digital transformation and to accommodate new technologies. Once this overarching objective is met, the organizations involved are able to: • Increase efficiency: Efficiency is the natural result of improved processes. Using the unmatched power of modern technology, workflows can become faster, slicker, and more repeatable. Staff spend less time on mundane tasks so they can focus on ideas and innovations. • Allow the focus on core competencies: Digital transformation provides a good opportunity for firms to take a long, hard look at what is essential to their business and what is a sideshow. • Increase internal collaboration: If a digital transformation project is large enough, it can touch the whole enterprise and foster better internal collaboration. • Improve employee performance: Digital transformation can create a work environment where employees can improve productivity in their daily work lives. • Become more agile
The European economic environment is dominated by a significantly high percentage of micro, small and medium sized enterprises. Many of these organisations are at a relatively low level of awareness and use of digital technologies to operate and promote their businesses. The ones who are aware are not able to make advantage of the tools in hand because they cannot customise their organizational structure to the digital transformation. These models of business were particularly and negatively affected recently by the pandemic since many businesses were forced to close for some length of time, thus forcing them to seek alternative sources of business. A number of them did manage to convert to online commerce and delivery systems but most were unable to cope with the challenges that these posed. We believed that the development of a training module that focuses on presenting digital technology training, digital business transformation aimed at businesses would be very useful and could help bring these many small businesses into the digitalage.
