It is recognized that young people in rural communities have increased difficulties in transitioning to the labour market and building a balanced future. The lack of opportunities in their environment - options that are transversal and complementary to the formal educational path - lead to a lack of motivation among young people to remain in their environment and to contribute to its development and dynamization. This scenario entails a set of consequences and challenges that urgently need to be overcome, such as, for example, the depopulation of inland regions (given the loss of young people who, without opportunities, seek other places for their growth); population ageing (due to the flight of young people from inland regions and the lack of new entries that could compensate for the departure) and the consequent low rate of active population, the precariousness or even non-existence of digital infrastructures, the difficulty of access to primary services. In addition to holding back young people and the development of their potential and talent, all these factors make it impossible for these territories to develop economically, weakening the business fabric, the supply of jobs and the possibility for young people to participate proactively in society. As social and economic inequalities intensified the existing fragilities, rural youth faced the need to move to the city in search of better living conditions, leaving behind the immeasurable cultural richness of their land. Problem Lack of opportunities to activate and value young people in rural areas, inhibiting personal, social, economic, cultural and local development. OB1 - Activation of rural youth.
