DYPALL Network focuses on several objectives, namely: - Develop structures and mechanisms for youth participation in decision-making at the local level - Identify best practices and introduce innovative approaches in the field of youth - Foster youth engagement and inclusivenes in representative and participatory democracy process - Build capacity and provide technical assistance on various areas like policy making, advocacy, etc. - Mainstream youth policies at local and regional level To address challenges related to these goals, DYPALL Network organised in the framework of the University on Youth and Development, coordinated by the North South Centre of the Council of Europe, two international activities. The Partnership Building (PBA) activity allowed to foster collaboration and cooperation among representatives of civil society organizations and municipalities working on youth participation in decision-making at the local level across various European countries. The second activiity was the international Seminar of experts and expert organizations on the theme of youth participation and local democracy allow to map existing needs to develop further work on this thematic at the same time that allowed to identify future trends and possible approaches to continue working to increase the quality of youth participation in local governance. Having participants from various European countries, including Latvia, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Romania, Denmark, Netherlands, Serbia, Poland, Austria, North Macedonia, and Portugal and creating several moments of interaction with the overall participants of the different activities of the University on Youth and Development allowed to increase the impact of the topics we discussed but also to reach out to many other expert organizations and engaged them in our programmes. The project had several key outcomes: One of the central goals was to promote and enhance youth participation in decision-making processes, with a particular focus on local environmental policies, so the participants were divided into two activities according their needs on the local level. The project sought to empower young people to play an active role in shaping local policies, particularly in the context of environmental sustainability. At the same time, the project served as a platform for networking and fostering connections among European organizations dedicated to youth participation in local decision-making. By bringing together these diverse groups, the project aimed to facilitate cooperation and knowledge exchange, ultimately leading to the development of new, collaborative projects. Accomplishing it, the project contributed to developing of mechanisms for youth participation in decision making at the local level. Sessions in the both, Seminar and the Partnership building activity (PBA) were structured around non-formal education methodologies, including sharing best practices, engaging in mutual dialogue, and planning concrete steps to build partnerships for future projects. Participants worked on skill development and explored methods to implement these practices in local environments to encourage youth involvement in decision-making processes. The project was aligned with the annual theme of the University on Youth and Development, which focused on "Young People, Peace, and Climate Change." It emphasized the link between youth participation in local environmental policies and its contribution to building stronger democracies and promoting peace. This was achieved by inspiring participants through plenary sessions and interactions with other participants, invited local authorities and speakers, enabling them to incorporate these learnings into the projects they were developing. Furthermore, the project aimed to bridge the gap between local realities and the broader European and global context. It allowed members of NGOs and youth workers from municipalities to connect with participants from other organizations and engage in debates with institutional representatives, thus expanding their perspectives and connecting their local efforts to larger, international initiatives.
