Objectives

Our project focuses on 4 fundamental objectives, to implement a youth exchange strategy, improving and developing the skills, abilities, and knowledge of Portuguese Red Cross youth workers and volunteers within the scope of the Youth Strategy and Youth Goals. Simultaneously, we worked to innovate our interventions within each local community, at a national level, and across Europe, with a focus on increasing the visibility and recognition of the European Youth Strategy, Youth Goals, and Erasmus+. These combined objectives allowed us to create a strong, cohesive 7-year training plan, empower our beneficiaries, and engage, connect, and empower young people through our work. By implementing this project, our overarching goal was to achieve a multifaceted set of objectives that aligned with the principles of peer-to-peer education and non-formal education methodologies. The project was structured around six main areas of intervention, including Health Promotion and Education, Intervention for Social Inclusion, Education for Development and International Cooperation, Employability, Entrepreneurship and Active Citizenship, Environmental Education, and Humanitarian Action. Through the objectives realised we want to achieve the following points: Alignment with European Youth Strategy: Our project, named 'Goals Keeper,' was intricately linked to the European Youth Strategy and the European Goals for 2021-2027. We ensured that all our activities and goals were in harmony with these overarching European frameworks. Long-term Training Plan: Through the accreditation, we created a robust and cohesive seven-year youth exchange plan for our youth workers, volunteers and participants, in direct accordance with the EU Youth Strategy. This plan was designed to enhance their skills, abilities, and knowledge and facilitate their growth and improvement. Empowering and Engaging Youth: We were dedicated to empowering and engaging the youth we worked with. Through the program, we developed various activities and projects that provided unique opportunities for local youth and beneficiaries across Europe. We specifically used Erasmus+ to foster the development of essential qualities such as interpersonal skills, communication, empathy, and leadership, thereby instilling confidence in this generation to effect positive change. Our final goal was to engage, connect, and empower young people through our work, facilitating their personal growth, fostering active citizenship, and contributing to the development of the Portuguese Red Cross Youth at both local and national levels. Resilience and Social Support: Despite the challenges encountered, our project placed a strong emphasis on adaptation and resilience, ensuring the maintenance of social support for our beneficiaries and promoting their continued engagement. This enabled us to provide critical responses to the difficulties faced by local youth communities. Social Innovation and Creativity: Our project was committed to bringing social innovation and creativity to our youth work, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and adaptability. Dissemination of EU Priority Areas: A key objective was to have our youth workers trained and capable of disseminating and boosting the EU's priority areas for Youth. We empowered them to take action in their local communities and across the entire country. Personal and Professional Development: Another core goal was to promote personal and professional development, as well as active citizenship among our youth workers and volunteers. We aimed to enhance their communication skills, self-confidence, adaptability, resilience, openness, and alignment with the values and attitudes outlined in the EU youth policy. These objectives collectively underscored our commitment to making a meaningful and lasting impact on the youth we served and on the broader European youth development landscape.
