The motivation for the development of the Mission Equality project was in the fact that gender violence is a widespread problem throughout the EU, and serious, with very profound impacts on individuals, families, communities and society in general, being its resolution urgent. Based on this, we identified the following needs:: -training for youth workers (YW) to be able to intervene effectively with young people, in terms of preventing gender violence and promoting the active role of young people, especially young men, in combating this problem; -training the YW to work on these themes, taking into account the specificities of young people with fewer opportunities; -interventions in this field that are broadly accessible to young people, as a result of the number of initiatives, which should be increased, or for their effectiveness and suitability to the needs and motivations of young people; -dynamic and attractive actions that sensitize and train young people to experience healthy relationships; -networking and creating synergies with different organizations, community members and decision-makers relevant to the fight against gender and youth violence. We promted the creation of opportunities for the personal and professional development of Youth Workers from different parts of Europe, with different levels of experience and coming from organizations with different degrees and areas of expertise, including the participation of professionals with fewer opportunities. Through the exchange of experiences, intercultural contact and joint exploration of the theme, methods and intervention tools, these Youth Workers will develop crucial key competences to work dynamically, appealingly and effectively with young people on issues of discrimination and gender violence, promoting healthy relationships and their involvement in combating this social problem. To achieve this general objective, the Mission Equality project uses a participatory approach, with the direct and close involvement of the YW and all partners throughout the life cycle of the project, promoting the following specific objectives: -Contribute to the promotion of the active participation of young people, in combating discrimination and gender violence; -Promote the exchange and increase of knowledge in the YW regarding the reality of gender violence and how gender inequalities perpetuate this problem; -Empower YW to develop appealing and impactful interventions for young people, using non-formal education (ENF), informal education (EI), digital media and other areas of interest to young people, as well as their introduction in the organisations; -Train YW for the proper and intentional use of digital tools in intervention with young people and in project management, as well as for their introduction into the daily lives of their organizations; -Promote quality and recognition of the important role of the youth sector in combating and preventing gender violence; We envision the next generations as the key actors to change the reality in terms of inequality and gender violence. Youth Workers have a fundamental and complementary role to that of the family, school and peer network in accompanying young people, especially those who have fewer opportunities, so their training to support young people in this area becomes elementary.
