The climate breakdown impacts many different levels of our existence. It truly crosses all borders - geographical, social, economic, political, gender, etc. And it intersects and influences many existing crises, such as the migrant crisis that sees more than 70 million people displaced worldwide. This number will only increase. Recognising the interrelationship between climate breakdown, migrant crisis, economic inequalities, and the rise of extremism and nationalism, a collective, transnational coalition, bridging different fields of action is urgently needed. The vision of Climate Action (CA) and Human Rights (HR) as topics that are barely connected is expressed in our societies and in the way that we live, but is also expressed in how youth work has adressed them. The partners of this consortium (youth organisations, environmental, cultural, artistic, social, educational NGOs) share the vision that we will only be able to fulfil our missions if we understand and integrate the intersectionalities between Climate Justice and Human Rights in our work. We urgently need to make the right choices in how we live, how we consume resources but also information, in how we connect with the planet and our communities, how we work collectively and how we act politically so that we conserve the planet and protect the fundamental rights of all people. This will only be possible if we understand the correlation between human rights and climate action and their intersectionalities. This is particularly important for young people who will experience the impacts of climate change that will cause further challenges to the fulfilment of Human Rights and, for that, it is important the development of competences that enable this empowerment. With this project we dive for 10 months into the needs and experience of 9 European organisations in the youth field, on human rights education, climate action and its intersectionalities, creating a common ground of understanding in areas of action that usually are not linked, and to envision strategies to work collectively towards the empowerment of youth as resilient actors in the face of the climate crisis. OBJECTIVES: 1- Build a common ground on Climate Justice (CJ) and Human Rights Education (HRE) and how this topics are interconnected, raising youth workers’ awereness and understanding on this matter as a priority on youthwork. Activity: APV and TC 2- Promote the development of a set of specific competences for 27 youthworkers from 8 different European countries to work holistically and intersectionally CJ and HR through Non Formal Education with the young people they work with. Activity: TC and Follow up activities 3 - Empower youth workers with tools and good practices based on the Non Formal Education approach that promote the development of competences to act holistically and effectively for climate justice and human rights protection, assuring that these two fields are approached intersectionally, developing knowledge, tools about CA and HRE for youthwork. Activity: APV, TC, online meetings and follow up
