Objectives

The main objectives of the Jovem 2030 project were the historical and factual analysis of youth policies, in order to chart a path of alignment for public and private institutions involved in the youth sector, so as to project Jovem 2030. In this way, it was possible to strengthen the democratic culture and civic awareness of Portuguese young people through an exercise in analyzing the past and projecting the future - Youth 2030. To this end, information activities were developed - Diagnosis and Cycle of Workshops, but also awareness-raising activities, through an action to raise awareness of the importance of young people's civic participation, held in the middle of the European elections (June 9, 2024); and the final conference, where, like all the sessions developed, it was possible to promote the involvement of citizens and draw attention to the importance of active participation in the community. Civic participation is an exercise that legitimizes democratic institutions, both at the more general level of political participation and at the more social or community level. Examples of political participation include traditional mechanisms for involving citizens, such as elections or public petitions, and social and community participation, such as volunteering and associations. The Youth 2030 project therefore addressed the following parameters: 1) Inclusion and Diversity - The activities carried out as part of the project included young people from all socio-cultural backgrounds, with different perspectives and experiences, and every participation was valued. 2. Sustainability, the environment and climate objectives - one of the series of workshops we held in Lisbon was dedicated to the theme of sustainability, the environment and climate objectives. One of the guest speakers was Maria João Botelho, a young person who is dedicated to positive environmental impact and has become a rising force in the world of sustainable finance. The young participants had the opportunity to take part in the reflection and it is hoped that from there they will exert a greater influence on their society, particularly on topics such as urban and rural development, energy use and food production. 3. Digital Transformation - The project was publicized on social networks, the Youth Foundation's website, the partners' websites and in some media, in order to reach a wider audience. Digitalization is a catalyst for the development of numerous relevant topics, including resource monitoring, consumer information on the environmental performance of products, sustainable mobility, smart city development, and energy production and distribution based on a smart grid. Digital technologies (Internet of Things, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, and Big Data) affect all sectors of activity and the daily lives of European citizens. In addition, the European Green Deal (2019-2024 strategy) spells out the relevance of digital technologies for the effective implementation of current environmental policies. When we think about the project's specific objectives, we can list the following: a) The Youth 2030 project contributed to the development of a critical and, at the same time, participatory awareness among young people, through the promotion of structured dialogue, promoting conventional and/or institutional and civic political participation; b)A diagnosis of the country was developed, of what has been done in the last 30 years in terms of Youth policies, the organization and intervention of youth civil society and the role of private institutions with intervention in the Youth Sector. This study allows us to present a vision of and for Youth 2030, and to increase young people's knowledge of youth policies; c) Contributed to the promotion of quality youth policies, which aim to support and enhance the development of young people, and stimulate their participation. young people and encourage their participation; d) Contributed to promoting the inclusion and diversity of young participants, and their critical reflection and action in the area of sustainability, as well as digital transformation.
