O1: Training of at least 10 disadvantaged people (seniors) in social inclusion through Romanian and European folk dances. We identified a need expressed by the senior members participating in the DANCE 60+ activities and in our other workshops: the introduction of the native national element, seen in a European context, in our current activities. O2: Involvement of at least 1000 beneficiaries (disadvantaged adults) in the ethno-social inclusion activities of the association. We wanted to organize hand-made activities with Romanian and European ethnic themes in order to contribute to a better social integration of other categories of disadvantaged adults from Braila and to produce an intercultural exchange regarding the traditional heritage of European countries . Our target for these activities were: - young adults leaving the state social protection system (children's homes) who do not know traditional European values; - adults from families below the minimum poverty threshold; - persons in detention - people from the Psychiatric Hospital. - other categories of disadvantaged people.
The BrailART association from Braila is an organization founded with the aim of developing the local non-governmental cultural and educational sector for disadvantaged adults. Right from the beginning, we focused on non-formal activities with adults, especially with seniors and with people at risk of social exclusion (unemployed, people below the poverty line, ethnic minorities). Our main activities: - foreign language learning programs for seniors: especially English and French, so that grandparents can communicate more easily with grandchildren born in other countries, who do not know the Romanian language; - dance learning programs: Greek (there is a strong Greek community in Braila), tango, Latin; - personal and financial development programs for seniors, unemployed, people on the verge of poverty; - social inclusion programs for adults with physical or mental disabilities. In this sense, we go to hospitals to do artistic or handmade activities.
