Objectives

Through this project we wanted to train teachers in order to adapt the didactic approach to the specifics of the trainees, to organize inclusive, differentiated learning activities appropriate to the age, interests and needs of the students, highlighting the students' potential, motivating them to continue their studies, overcoming their condition and to develop skills to avoid marginalization and social exclusion. The actions of the project focused on reducing absenteeism, school dropout, discrimination, bullying and the (re)integration of vulnerable groups into the mass education system. Pursued objectives: O1-Empowerment of 12 teachers (directly) and 30 teachers (indirectly, through dissemination), in the field of class management, conflicts, non-formal and inclusive education; O2-Reducing early school leaving among vulnerable students (students with poor socio-economic situations, Roma children, students with SEN); O3-Reducing acts of bullying, acts of indiscipline, intolerance and discrimination on any criteria, in all secondary school classes, by 10% until 2025; O4-More active involvement in European projects/partnerships to strengthen the European dimension of our school and obtain Erasmus accreditation.

Background

DOMNITA MARIA Secondary School is a state education unit in Bacau, located at the confluence of three neighborhoods: a suburb, an area with social housing and an ethnic Roma area. Our educational services are addressed to a number of approximately 450 children: 4 preschool groups, 11 primary education classes, 8 secondary education classes. The groups are heterogeneous, in the classes there are students with SEN (16), Roma children (94) and children from single-parent families or children from disadvantaged families (half of the total students), children at risk, that have as effect: making the teaching process more difficult, learning difficulties, difficult adaptation, inappropriate behaviour, lack of performance, failed exams, absenteeism, school dropout, situations that define the problem of our school. This context is a challenge for the management team and for the 42 teachers of the school. Thus, the need for the (re)integration of students at risk (absenteeism, early school leaving tendencies, difficulties in learning and adapting to the school environment, inappropriate behaviour etc.) and for teacher training to work with these categories of students was outlined, through the Erasmus+ Project INTEGRATION FOR LEARNING.
