Objectives

By implementing this project, we pursued the following objectives: O1: Developing competencies in the field of inclusive education and well-being for 8 teachers from Vulcana Pandele Gymnasium School, at preschool, primary and secondary levels, until July 2023. Thus, 8 teaching staff (2 educators, 4 primary teachers, including 2 novice teaching staff who took and passed the Def. exam in August 2023, 2 lower secondary teachers) participated in 3 training courses in the field of inclusive education. The courses highlighted the need to use the didactic game and physical activity combined with the academic part in the lessons to create a feeling of well-being. O2: Improving school results in the school subjects taught by participants in the mobilities for at least 60% of children, through inclusive activities promoting well-being, until the end of the project. The 8 teachers applied the acquired knowledge in the classes where they teach and used the skills developed in the courses, so that at least 60% of the children recorded an improvement in their school results (progress reports) and created an educational environment suitable for achieving well-being (questionnaire, direct observation, discussions, feedback).

Background

The post-pandemic antisocial tendencies of children caused a tense school climate. Also, the share of children from disadvantaged categories was 47% in the 2021/2022 school year. The SWOT analysis carried out established as strong points the existence of qualified teaching staff and a percentage of 61 % of permanent teachers, but identified as weak points the lack of training of teachers in the field of inclusive education, the existence of a support teacher without professional training for inclusive education (who retired at the end of the 2021/2022 school year and was not replaced) and teaching lessons traditionally that prevents the creation of an educational climate which ensures the well-being of preschoolers and students. An immediate threat was the migration of students to schools in nearby cities and, as opportunities, we identified the Erasmus+ program which offered us the chance of some effective training activities in the field of inclusive education by carrying out activities promoting the well-being of children, but also of teachers. The project contributed to meeting Ob1 of the school's strategy, that is the improvement of school results and the creation of a favorable climate for achieving wellbeing at school.
