National College „Mircea Eliade” has been a public educational institute for over 50 years. In its first years of existence it was a vocational high school, then in 1991 it became a theoretical comprehensive secondary school. Today it offers education to pupils seeking to major either in Computer Sciences in intensive approach of studies line, in Natural Sciences with intensive English studies or in Humanistic Studies with bilingual English approach to studies. Starting with 2013 the school has been offering tertiary education options through medical post high school courses. In the school year 2013-2014 there were two such classes, one state funded, one fee-funded, specializing atendees in general Nursing, plus a class with courses in Pharmacy. In the last two years the course in Pharmacy is finalizing its life-span, while the school continues to offer specialization in general nursing with 1 class. Competition for a place there is serious and the implementation of the vocational practice programme in Cyprus through this project has hugely contributed to this, and to the overall prestige of the school, respectively of this vocational segment of the studies and specializations that it offers to the community.
