Objectives

We set three main objectives: 1. The development of the professional competence in hospitality with the students of the 11th grade majoring in tourism and catering; 2. The development of the communication competence in English; 3. The development of the digital competence in developing the specific activities. After implementing the activities of the project, we reached all these objectives. The beneficiaries were informed about the quality of the services in the field of hospitality in Rhodes, Greece, they understood the requirements of the position and of their professional preparation in this field, through the activities they performed during the mobility, they developed their competence of evaluation, inter-evaluation and self-evaluation through various activities and materials of presentation and dissemination they produced. During the mobility, our students used English as a means of communication, but they also learnt a few useful phrases in Greek. Thus, they opened more towards multicultural communication, especially since, during the two weeks of mobility, they interacted with other foreign students, employees and guests of Alia luxury Suites from many countries within and outside the borders of the EU.

Background

After analysing the school activity, we identified two aspects we would like improved: the information necessary to prepare our students in the field of hospitality the way the employers want and the educational methods used with our students so that their professional preparation answer the requirements on the labour market in this field. The participation in the Erasmus+ programme answered the two aspects directly. The students majoring in Tourism and catering understood the requirements of the employer in this field and the expectations of the clients of the receiving units, so they could get a job easier in the field. The materials produced within this project will be used to prepare the students in this specialization, and not only, in preparing the applications for the mobility within the Erasmus+ , in evaluating students’ activity in both professional training module within the curriculum and in the mobility activities. In applying for, implementing and development of this project, we benefitted from the support of our school management, the specialized teachers and the partner Companies ( tour agencies and restaurants) directly interested in developing the targeted competences.
