Objectives

The participation of the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (hereafter, SNSPA) in the Erasmus + Programme represents a catalyst, in the short and long term, of the consistent efforts and commitments made by the university to increase its degree of internationalization by obtaining a better position on the "map" of prestigious universities in the world and a wide international recognition. In equal measure, the impact of participation leads to the strengthening of SNSPA's institutional capacity, the increase of its own human resources capacity, as well as to the modernization of the educational, research and innovation services, and support services provided. Thus, by implementing the project 2022-1-RO01-KA131-HED-000061838, SNSPA aimed to further increase the number and quality of international mobilities, so that students, teachers and administrative staff can access education, research and training opportunities in Europe and beyond. The project is in line with the Internationalization Strategy of SNSPA (2020-2025) and contributes decisively to the integration of internationalization activity as a strategic priority, transversal and support axis in all its strategic documents in the field of education, research and innovation. In terms of project objectives, these were both quantitative and qualitative. Quantitatively, we aimed to increase the number of mobilities for students, academic and administrative staff. During the eligibility period of the project, these objectives were met and exceeded, compared to previous reports, with the number of outgoing and incoming mobilities increasing significantly, reflecting the increased interest in internationalization and transnational collaboration. In order to implement this project, we aimed to increase the number of mobilities by 20%, and thanks to our efforts, we have reached and even exceeded this target, with an increase of more than 30% (compared to the number of mobilities in the last KA 131 2021 project). However, it should be mentioned that, compared to the previous project, the budget of the KA131-2022 project was significantly higher, and as such, the number of mobilities that could be realized. Following the analysis carried out by the Erasmus+ Office of SNSPA, it was found that the main causes of the differences were the overlapping of several funding contracts, which brought considerable amounts for mobilities and the same existing selection pool, with a smaller number of candidates than usual. Thus, we cannot say that it is the increased budget that has led to this significant increase in the number of mobilities, but rather the joint efforts of the Erasmus+ Office team. On the other hand, in qualitative terms, the project aimed to improve intercultural and linguistic competences, increase adaptability to diverse academic environments and develop leadership skills in an international context. These objectives were achieved through the organization of workshops, seminars and mentoring activities, which facilitated the exchange of best practices and encouraged active involvement in global academic networks. The degree of satisfaction of the participants was high, confirming the effectiveness of the implemented measures. In this sense, we wanted to involve as many stakeholders as possible, to make full use of the various tools designed to improve and streamline the work of the Erasmus+ Office team. Thus, for this project we had in mind the addition to the team of a new Expert employee, a person in charge of the mobilities in the Beneficiary Module platform, a person in charge of communication and promotion of the Erasmus+ Office activities, as well as the launch of the Erasmus+ Ambassadors initiative. The project contributes to the SNSPA's strategy of modernizing the university curriculum and adapting it to international standards, supporting the development of an educational environment based on inclusion, tolerance and equity. SNSPA's participation in the European CIVICA alliance has been a determining factor in achieving these objectives, providing additional opportunities for collaboration and access to high quality educational and research resources. CIVICA will develop a series of actions dedicated to the creation of a common European research environment and the integration of advanced social science research with teaching and learning. SNSPA will focus, together with its CIVICA partners, on various actions aimed at increasing the quality of the academic action that can benefit students, academic and administrative staff. Through the Erasmus+ Program, the positive results of SNSPA's involvement are multiplied. The project aimed not only to increase mobility, but also to strengthen a sustainable network of international partnerships that will support the continuous professional and academic development of the SNSPA community.
