Objectives

The Romanian-American University (RAU) considers Erasmus+ mobility projects to be fundamental to the university's Internationalization Strategy, playing a vital role in the internationalization process and institutional modernization. Mobilities are essential for enhancing the university's visibility on the international stage, strengthening collaborations with global partners, and ensuring that RAU students and staff have access to valuable international academic experiences. As a result, the implementation of this project had the general aim of increasing the degree of internationalization and raising RAU’s global visibility. By expanding and strengthening the network of international partners, the university sought not only to diversify collaboration opportunities but also to promote international cooperation through student and staff mobilities. These collaborations have contributed to creating an open, inclusive, and globally connected educational environment. An important objective of the project was to provide RAU students with access to study or internship opportunities abroad. Participation in Erasmus+ mobilities allowed them to develop academic and professional skills, as well as to acquire intercultural competencies, essential in an increasingly globalized job market. Additionally, the teaching and training mobilities organized for RAU staff had a significant impact on their professional development. Staff members had the opportunity to collaborate with international specialists, exchange good practices, and modernize teaching methods, which contributed to improving the educational process. Similarly, the mobilities aimed at modernizing course content and internationalizing the curriculum. Contact with international partners, both from the academic and business sectors, allowed for the updating of the study programs to make them more relevant and globally competitive. Through incoming teaching mobilities, RAU successfully attracted foreign professors and business specialists to the Guest Courses program, bringing a global perspective to its students. The opportunities offered by Erasmus+ projects also targeted the development of double-degree programs, which add value through a global approach, enriching students’ academic experience. Such programs provide greater educational access, as students benefit from extensive academic resources, diverse perspectives, and the opportunity to build a strong professional network. At the same time, the university encouraged the development of collaborations in research and other types of international projects, resulting in not only the improvement of research activities but also the strengthening of academic and professional ties between universities. These collaborations create new opportunities for students and staff, providing access to knowledge and research networks on a global scale. Special emphasis was placed on increasing the number of incoming mobilities, which has strengthened the "internationalization at home" process. The presence of incoming students enriched the educational experience at RAU, bringing cultural diversity and contributing to creating a more dynamic and open academic environment. This component of internationalization offers RAU students the opportunity to interact directly with peers from other cultures, developing their intercultural skills and preparing them for international careers. Throughout the project, RAU paid particular attention to ensuring quality in the organization of mobilities and complying to ECHE principles. All the mobilities that have been organised adhered to European standards of academic excellence, equal opportunities, and non-discrimination, ensuring that all participants had access to a valuable educational experience. By achieving these objectives, the Erasmus+ project directly contributed to the modernization of the educational process at RAU. The integration of international practices and perspectives has allowed the university to update its study programs and diversify its educational offerings, remaining competitive in an increasingly globally connected academic environment. In this way, RAU consolidates its position in international education, providing its students and staff with access to high-quality academic and professional opportunities.
