The initiative of the project emerged as a response to the University of Bucharest’s (UB) need to strengthen its international profile and to capitalise on its broad academic expertise. UB aimed to develop an extended network of partnerships that would connect Europe with regions underrepresented in the European Higher Education Area. Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation with Africa through the CIVIS associated partners, consolidating UB’s role within this European alliance and directly addressing Erasmus+ priorities for global outreach and multilateral collaboration. At the same time, the project sought to maintain and diversify the traditional ties with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, neighbouring countries with which UB has long-standing and strategically valuable academic cooperation. Through mobilities with universities in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the United States, the project aimed to establish sustainable cooperation channels, facilitate the exchange of good practices, foster academic and intercultural competences and strengthen UB’s international visibility as an active actor in the global academic environment.
