As the main objectives of the project, we wanted to educate, externally, 180 people at risk of social exclusion, 60 facilitators, and, internally, within the three partner organizations, 12 trainers, on how to use participatory video as a method educational for the development of the communities in which they live, because we consider that this method is extremely effective in obtaining the desired results, i.e. bringing to the attention of the responsible persons or institutions the problems and challenges that people at risk of social exclusion face, and which must solved. Also, another important objective of the project was to generate a manual in which to explain how the participatory video can be implemented as an educational tool for the development of communities, a manual to make available free of charge to any person or organization, in a very accessible format. Also, we wanted the partner organizations of the project to gain and expand their organizational experience, internal and international, through the implementation of this project.
We are aware that there are people at risk of social exclusion, in different social categories such as: ethnic minorities, people with low incomes or in isolated rural areas. Their voice and needs are not heard, that's why I thought that the challenges these people face can be heard by using the participatory video method as an educational tool for the development of the communities where these people live. Also, our organizations need to develop, to evolve as experience, by running such projects. Educating about the participatory video method, both for people at risk of social exclusion, but also for members of partner organizations, facilitators involved in the project and other people who participated in the activities, can have beneficial results not only within the project, but also after its completion, the participatory video method as an educational tool for the development of communities can be applied and used later by any interested person or organization, which is why we decided to produce a manual, in which we explain this method, to put available free of charge to anyone who is interested.
