Background

The NOW SEE partnership applied for this project because it is in line with key EU initiatives such as the Council Recommendation on Learning for Environmental Sustainability and the New European Bauhaus. It addresses the increasing need for sustainable entrepreneurship, with a focus on eco- entrepreneurship, which integrates environmental solutions into business activities, driving the green transition. It aims to bring the European Green Deal (EGD) to life and promote the green transformation in entrepreneurship. Another key motivation is to promote gender equality, which remains an unmet goal in the EU and a focus for each partner. Women make up only 33% of entrepreneurs, and just 5% were involved in starting or managing businesses between 2016-2020. NOW SEE seeks to empower women in sustainable environmental entrepreneurship (SE) by bridging the skills gap, as only 38% of women feel confident to start a business, compared to over half of men. The "Women in SE Entrepreneurship" upskilling pathway includes 3 stages: awareness-raising, deepening knowledge, and action. NOW SEE offers an e-workshop and e-Studio to motivate and help women develop the skills to build green, socially responsible, and digitally advanced businesses.
