Objectives

By implementing the project, we aimed to address the above-mentioned needs regarding the waste collection system in all participating organizations. CNDG, Ratsgymnasium, LPGG, IESVDA and AESA wanted to improve the selective collection system in the institution. All participating organizations opted for developing green skills and digital transition, strengthening active citizenship through community campaigns and thematic visits. We wanted the activities to instill good behavior in the Erasmus project, exchange best practices on waste separation and improve cleanliness in schools. The project activities were tailored to the specific needs of each participating organization and improved by the Erasmus teams of the partner schools thanks to their experience in informal education, the thematic workshops already in place and the possibility of field studies at green companies in their area. In terms of digital progress, we wanted to achieve a higher level of computer literacy among pupils and teachers in our schools and to pass this on through dissemination to other school communities.

Background

The partner schools identified common problems. Ratsgymnasium, Lycée Pierre-Gilles de Gennes, IES Valle Del Azahar and Agrupamento de Escolas de Santo André had a partially selective waste collection system and needed to extend the selective system to biodegradables. School boards had to be sensitized to switch to the 4-category collection system. The less experienced CNDG needed a 3-category management system in order to develop the environmental competence of its own community. The project activities addressed our need to raise awareness among students, teachers and auxiliary staff on how to properly manage waste. To help pupils and teachers improve their ICT skills, the project activities aimed to support digital progress. All partner schools identified the need to develop digital competences in terms of the use of software for creating a website, logo, QR, digital posters, Kahoot and Google Forms questionnaires, new digital tools for dissemination and other means of communication and coordination in cyberspace.
