Objectives

Through the knowledge of colleagues acquired on mobility and through the dissemination of project results in the First Technical School and beyond, we improved the teaching process in the First Technical School, we trained teachers to accept and apply innovative teaching methods in their daily teaching and extracurricular activities. Modern teaching methods put students in the foreground, give them the opportunity to create the learning process themselves, through team and research work, digital technologies, to set and solve problems themselves. In this way, they actively learn, experientially and critically approach the topics, thus their knowledge is more concrete and permanent, and the path to them is more motivating and interesting. A trained teacher is there to direct the students, refer to certain contents, help and evaluate the works, and together with the students creates a new affirming atmosphere in the classroom and in the whole school.

Background

The project "Innovative teaching methods and strategies" it arose from the need of the First Technical School (FTS) to modernize the teaching process. The project is a consequence of the teachers' desire to improve themselves, to give teaching a new, modern and innovative dimension, but also the external evaluation of the Ministry of Education, which suggested that we should work on innovative teaching methods in FTS. The most important part of this project was the students and their motivation, which is unfortunately lacking in the school in the past years. Although FTS is a secondary vocational school, innovative methods are applicable to both general education and vocational subjects. A large number of teachers, although they accept innovative teaching methods, mostly adhere to them theoretically, while in practice they rarely use them. Despite the desire to learn about innovative teaching methods, there is a lack of examples of them, they are expensive and unavailable. This project enabled us to share the knowledge gained during the courses and teaching observation with our colleagues, train them and raise the level of teaching in FTS to a next level that will suit, first of all, students and teachers.
