Objectives

Through this project we wanted to learn from our Danish partners the concept that can be applied in the school environment, that would help our students adopt and develop healthy habits. By regular physical exercising, with lectures and workshops, the school stimulates development of consciousness and indicates the connection between physical and mental health of students. The project activities aim also at the importance of healthy eating habits and quality sleep in relation to the brain functions. By developing healthy habits, the students develop attentiveness and achieve better results in academic environment. They also learn nutritional value of food, which is very important for brain functioning at their age. By diverse activities, they learn to anlayse results and develop critical way of thinking.

Background

Primary school Sveti Sava has about 1000 students, attending grades 1st to 8th. Since its foundation, the school has insisted on the importance of physical activity, has organised many sports competitions, and activities that aim at raising the awareness on importance of mental and physical health. This project focuses on development of healthy habits that lead to healthy lifestyle and better learning results. By forming these habits, the stundents will integrate easily into society and address stressful situations more successfully. Global changes, excessive use of technology, unhealthy food, and modern life, in general, have made this task particularly difficult for school environment. Therefore, the school has the need to learn from more experienced partners and help creating healthier generation of children.
