Secondary vocational education and training suffers from a bad reputation in our wider environment, as well as in our municipality of Čoka. Due to the large migration in the last few years, the number of inhabitants has drastically decreased, and therefore the number of children. Parents do not instruct their children to learn a trade, but send them to Gymnasiums. High-quality vocational education can be an attractive option for young people, because it offers a clear path to the labor market, which can be attractive for some. Some young people like the practical aspect of the learning process itself. Through a student who participates in such a project, he can present it as a real option, that is, an attractive, credible alternative. Thanks to such professional mobilities, the image of vocational education will improve not only in the eyes of peers, but also of their families and other key actors such as teachers, counselors and employees in the Čokan region and beyond. Our goal with this project was to point out to everyone the possibilities offered by secondary vocational education. The best opportunity for that is learning your trade in the countries of the European Union.
Our school is located in Čoka, in the northern part of Serbia. Our main activity is in the form of three- and four-year courses. In the field of adult education, we carry out retraining or retraining activities for deficient occupations. Chemical laboratory technicians, environmental protection technicians, butchers, bakers, and hairdressers are currently being trained in our institution. The level of success in improving the attractiveness of our school among young people in Čoka will be monitored by the number of young people who will enroll in our school in the coming years. Currently, the number of newly admitted students is drastically decreasing from year to year. The biggest challenge for our school is enrolling students in the school. With this project, our institution can add value to our educational offer. By giving students the opportunity to join Erasmus+ mobility, we offer them a unique opportunity to develop their English language skills and to develop their competences. In order to increase the attractiveness of our school among young people in Čoka, we plan to maintain regular contact with our graduates in order to follow their careers. We also plan to be in contact with local companies during the internship.
