Objectives

The project focuses on managing environmental sustainability in the face of consumerism's impact on the environment. It addresses the question of balancing environmentalism and consumerism in a capitalist society. Consumerism, emphasizing increased consumption, has led to significant environmental stress, including greenhouse gas emissions, mass production, and drastic climate changes. In response, the project's objectives are comprehensive. It aimed to raise awareness among 24 young participants about the benefits of recycling and reusing goods in order to mitigate the negative effects of consumerism on the environment. The goal was to expand their knowledge on environmental protection and sustainable development. To achieve this, the project involved interactive exercises and developing digital skills through the process of creating, recording and editing an educational podcast. The topics of the podcasts were carefully chosen in order to insure the sustainability of project results. The project seeks to motivate the participants to share gained knowledge and experiences on social media, with peers, and within their families. The ultimate aim is to create a ripple effect, encouraging more individuals to adopt sustainable practices. This way we are actively contributing to the personal development of the participants. The project provided opportunities for participants to enhance social and digital skills, boost self-confidence and self-esteem, and engage in teamwork, presentation, public speaking, problem-solving and creative work. Along with the educational goals of this exchange we also managed to reach our goals connected to spreading the spirit of cultural awareness and European values. The group consisted of participants with different levels of experience with Erasmus+. For some of them this was the first project they have participated in. Young people with fewer opportunities were involved in the project as one of the main target groups. The objectives of the project were: to raise awareness of 24 youngsters about the benefits recycling and reusing goods in order to mitigate the negative effects of consumerism on the environment; to broaden participant’s knowledge and to introduce the topic of environment protection and sustainable development; to visit 2 recycling centers in Nis, to tackle participants creativity and their digital competences by engaging them in creating interesting recording and editing an educational podcast; to implement one inclusive creative workshop with recycled material with local disability kids from Nish; to donate and plant the tree with disability kids; to provide space for promotion of Cultural diversity in Europe and intercultural understanding between youngsters coming from different social, cultural, religious background. In essence, the project was a holistic approach to informing, empowering, educating and inspiring young individuals to take an active role in promoting environmental sustainability within their communities and beyond. All of the project goals have been met.
