Objectives

“Safebook for youth workers” project was implemented in order to contribute to the promotion of safety culture among young people through newly developed manual “Safebook” for youth work in the field of youth safety and security, produced through Strategic partnership in the field of youth and recommended as a good practice project within Erasmus + program. One of the aims of the project was to transfer developed methodologies in other youth organizations, youth workers and peer educators in order to directly contribute to the increase of actions and activities for promotion of safety among youth. “Safebook” manual includes new and innovative methodologies and creative tools which designed according to the youth friendly principles. This manual focuses on 5 segments of youth safety: peer violence, cyber bullying, abuse of psychoactive substances, discrimination and mental health in time of COVID–19. TC, which was main activity of the project, was implemented for young people (youth workers, educators, activists) from 9 EU Member States and third countries associated to the program in order for them to adopt new methodologies regarding above-mentioned safety segments and to explore concept photo and concept video as methods in youth work and non-formal education. Specific objectives of the project were: · To equip youth workers and educators with set of new educational tools in the field of youth safety focusing on 5 segments: peer violence, cyber bullying, abuse of psychoactive substances, discrimination and mental health in time of COVID–19 · To provide youth workers from European countries with skills and knowledge to use concept photo and videos as methods for the work in the field of youth safety. · To network young people from European countries with different set of skills and tools to promote youth safety culture. Described aim and objectives were achieved through implementation of 1 international training course during which participants (youth workers, peer educators and volunteers) from partner organizations adopted new methodology, developed new creative tools for promotion of safety culture and developed some ideas for follow up activities and new projects which will be based on “Safebook” manual. Participants of the training course had a task to organize one promotional event, info day or meeting with the members of partner organization in order to disseminate and transfer some of the basic information and results of the project on to them and to present some detailes in regard to the manual. This was decided in order to further promote the topic of youth safety and security as well as to promote innovative methodology in this area of youth work. “Safebook” manual was product of strategic partnership and it was created because of the need for improvement of existing methods and more innovative approach in non-formal education of young people, especially younger youth (15-19) years old. Another aspect and motivation for implementation of this project was to really work on dissemination and to create desirable conditions for further transfer and multiplying of the Safebook methodology, because of the big potential for contribution to some of the most important goals and priorities of youth work on European level. This manual covers 5 segments and it can be used as tool for implementing projects about general youth safety or for projects which are covering 1 or several topics of the manual. This means that Safebook methodology can be used for implementing activities for combating discrimination and social exclusion, all forms of peer violence, cyber bulling, protection of mental health in crisis situations and promotion of heathy lifestyles. This is important to underline as all of these topics can be find in defined Youth goals of EU Youth Strategy which means that there is clear need to work on educating and training young people and those who are working with young people in described areas of youth safety.
