University of Novi Sad (UNS) wanted to achieve: increased academic mobility, development of Erasmus+ partnerships, capacity building of its services, strategic orientation of internationalisation and global outreach towards regions outside the EU. UNS Internationalisation Strategy states that participation in EU mobility programs is one of UNS priorities. Another goal which UNS wanted to achieve was to nurture previous cooperation established with partner HEIs and initiate cooperation with new partners. As a university of 50,000 students, 5,000 staff and almost all areas, UNS worked on Erasmus+ partnerships to provide new opportunities. Although UNS managed to ensure the cooperation within its network of international partners through this project, not all grants awarded were spent due to student-led protests and blockades of Serbian HEIs (totally implemented at the University of Novi Sad for ten months). This impacted the KA171 project negatively and completely, having in mind that no activity was possible from December 2024 until the end of the project lifetime. The only way UNS can describe its inability to realise most or all intended mobilities is through viewing the outside unforeseeable circumstances as force majeure.
