Background

Rural tourism provides valuable commercial and employment opportunities for people in rural areas that are confronted with the growing challenges. Without these opportunities, people may be forced to relocate to more populous areas, often resulting in separated families and economic leakage in the local community. Having in mind EU environment policies and the rural tourism, the aim of the project was to create a knowledge base for starting family projects, going towards sustainability. Rural tourism enables valorization of women’s work in rural households and creation of new jobs and their employment. Economic effects of female entrepreneurship which is created in rural tourism and activities relating to it are women’s securing of their economic empowerment. In order to give an impulse to the rural tourism development, empowering women through education was seen as the first and most important step. Since the Erasmus+ Program supports training assignments at adult education organizations, the opportunity for support of courses and training is recognized as a good chance to design an innovative training program focused on women from border area of three partner countries and on rural tourism.
