Objectives

We had no prior experience of participating in Erasmus plus projects. It was only through several Etwinning projects that we realized our deficiency in digitalization, which affected the execution of certain projects. We have now successfully worked on digitalization at our preschool. During the Erasmus plus project, we updated our older teachers and provided structure for the younger teachers to create a balanced and dynamic development. The pandemic period made it abundantly clear how crucial digitalization has become as a necessary tool in several critical areas, particularly in development and education. Everything from documentation and communication with guardians to knowledge development now takes place through digitalization. We have made significant progress in improving the quality of our educators' work through the development work within the project. With the help of new knowledge, our teachers and children have become more comfortable using digital tools. They can create e-books, program simple games for children, like memory games, and we have actively worked with the Blue-Bot robot to teach children about analog programming and much more.

Background

Butaland Segeltorp preschool accommodates two groups comprising a total of 40 children, who are under the supervision of nine teachers, a principal, and a chef. Throughout the project's duration, the educators' competence has seen significant growth in their professional development. Given the rapid technological advancements, the staff has successfully developed and integrated digitalization knowledge into pedagogy, addressing the urgent societal need for such skills. We have established a stable and comprehensive environment where all employees actively participate in developmental initiatives. The overarching goal is to equip each teacher with the necessary skills to proficiently use digital tools, a goal that has been significantly advanced during the project. Through the implementation of courses and job-shadowing experiences, we have achieved the following directives and goals: increased competence, engagement, and influence among our staff across various developmental domains. It is worth noting that our more experienced teachers have managed to overcome unique challenges in adapting to and effectively utilizing digital tools. We have made significant strides in our preschool's digitalization efforts.
