Objectives

The main goal was to develop knowledge about how digital and analogue resources are used in different classrooms through job shadowing. This would also be combined with democratic values and a language development perspective, especially reading. Other aims were to identify the conditions for preventing stress and what role social media and screens play.

Background

Many of our students are highly ambitious and want to achieve good grades in order to advance to university. However, this has also led to an enormous increase in the perceived stress among the students. For many years, the trend has been to move towards more and more digital resources. Instead of physical books, teachers have used online resources. Instead of writing by hand, the students use computers. Lately, we have begun to question our organization's reliance on computers and wondered whether a return to the "physical" world could benefit our students. Our school is interested in investigating how the use of digital resources can both contribute to and lessen stress levels and learning. We hope to achieve this by observing and discussing the issue with a school that has just taken steps to integrate computers more in their organization.
