Objectives

With the help of mobilities, internships and competitions, we wanted to attract and retain more students to our programs and to the industry, through the increased quality and attractiveness of the programs. We wanted to increase young people's cultural understanding, courage, tolerance, mobility and language skills so we form responsible, independent young adults with good cooperation skills for the industry throughout Europe. We wanted our students to become even more service minded and gain both wide and unique professional knowledge and good practical skills within their professional fields.

Background

Virginska Gymnasium is one of Örebro's upper secondary schools. Three vocational programs, the Hotel and Tourism Program (HT), the Restaurant and Food Program (RL) and the Crafts Program (HV) belong to the same principal's area. International work is very important for us, and we have worked with international projects for many years. We need to get more students to choose vocational programs at upper secondary school. Our students have different socio-economic, cultural and religious backgrounds, and the fact that we live in a relatively segregated society, tolerance for each other needs to be boosted. We want to give the students an increased cultural understanding and acceptance. Their courage and language skills also need to be increased so that we shape responsible and open-minded young adults for the industry throughout Europe. Mobilities such as Working Place Learning or internship, and competitions lead to better collaboration and communication skills. We want to promote common values, so our students become brave and stand up for everyone's equal value regardless of ethnicity, religion, culture, etc.
