LiU’s strategy map states the university’s ambition to be a university with international standing and its internationalisation strategy is intended to strengthen the development and quality in research, education, collaboration and administrative support. One example of an indicator that shows development in the right direction according to the strategy is that LiU has a high participation in European educational and research programs and that employees and students enjoy good opportunities to participate in international mobility. Since the Erasmus+ programme is the most comprehensive programme in terms of opportunities and actions it plays an important role for the university. The possibility of mobility through the Erasmus+ program is vital to achieving the goal that all students, including doctoral students, who graduate from LiU shall have developed their international and intercultural understanding through their studies at LiU. In a similar way it supports employees, academic and administrative staff alike, as they shall have the ability to work in an international and intercultural context and be able to develop skills throughout their work life.
