In this project we planned to build capacity in education of Life Sciences and Biomedicine at key non-capital universities of Ukraine and the only medical university of the Republic of Moldova. The main strategy was to exchange staff as well as all types of students including PhD students. Part of this was strengthening education in English language, which is essential for synchronisation of the systems of education in the European Union, Ukraine, and Moldova. Additionally, the focus was on practical training and modernisation of curricula. The exchange of staff aimed at both lecturing and training on how to combine education and research at teaching departments. Blended mobilities were introduced for the first time. For Swedish partners, the main goal of this project was “internationalisation at home” with teaching and mentoring Ukrainian and Moldovan students/PhD students as well as training with Ukrainian and Moldovan staff from several universities. To achieve effective internationalisation at home the project included a lot of exchanges which were cross-disciplinary even though focused on certain areas of science central to sustainable economy and healthcare..
