Objectives

At Karlstad University (KAU) our strategic aim at the start of this project was to develop a higher degree of internationalised activities where collaborations strengthen the quality of education and research and offer international opportunities for all students and staff. This was be operationalised through deeper cooperation with selected international universities for increased mobility (e.g. Victoria University VU), creating opportunities for subject areas, which have not previously had exchanges (e.g. Early Childhood Education EC); more courses in English; graduates and staff developing their international understanding and/or intercultural competence and/or experiences. VU intended to work towards sustaining an increase in outbound mobilities for students and staff. VU wanted to leverage its international presence by creating opportunities for student mobility, which enhance student experience and learning, and which would position VU as a high-profile global university. VU had a vision to become an outstanding performer in all areas of its core activity, teaching and learning, research, engagement, indigenous leadership internationalisation. VU intended to build its profile and reputation through engagement worldwide.
