Each activity in our project was designed to foster a more sustainable, health-conscious, and environmentally responsible society. Firstly, the project sought to educate and inspire individuals, particularly students about the importance of adopting zero waste practices. This involves reducing the amount of waste one produces, through means such as recycling, composting, and choosing reusable over disposable items. The project also focused on promoting healthy habits, recognizing the intrinsic link between personal health and environmental sustainability. Lastly, the project aimed to foster a sense of community and shared responsibility. By bringing together participants from various backgrounds through the Erasmus program, the project sought to create a network of motivated individuals and groups dedicated to the cause of sustainability. This community aspect was vital for sharing ideas, best practices, and inspiring each other to make lasting changes. Through this collaborative effort, the "Zero Waste, Healthy Life" Erasmus project aspired to create a ripple effect, encouraging more communities to adopt sustainable practices and make healthier choices for themselves and the environment.
We realize that there is a need for information and practice toward a zero waste environment, teaching our younger generation to embrace a zero waste mentality will create adults with healthy and responsible practices. The aim of our project was to ensure that our students prevent waste, use resources efficiently, learn zero waste practices, and be aware of the separation of waste and garbage. Our main goal was to prevent waste generation as much as possible, to use the resulting waste as a resource and to minimize the amount of waste sent to landfills. We wanted our students to be our little ambassadors in this project taking information learned to their homes and communities. Our target was to raise awareness, act and impact our surroundings. We address the concept of Zero Waste as a whole looking first at our schools, households, our community and the world but we also put extra emphasis on our oceans and the danger of plastic to marine life. At the same time, our goals included improving the competencies of trainers, developing digital pedagogy, thus increasing awareness of media literacy, promoting a different language learning, and ensuring social and civic participation thus expanding the scope of the project.
