LEAFY aimed to address the growing interest in sustainability and climate change among young people. The specific objectives were to create a shared knowledge base for youth workers and leaders, enhancing their effectiveness in working with young people on sustainability, inclusion, and climate change. Our training course drew on the expertise of European ecovillages, serving as pioneer educational centers, and shared an innovative toolbox developed through a partnership among ecovilas. ages, youth workers, and sustainability campaigners. Ecovillages, as sustainable models, integrate the dimensions of ecology, economy, society, and culture. They function as training and learning centers, offering experiences of cohesive, inclusive, and sustainable living through informal and non-formal education activities. LEAFY responded to the needs identified, noting the increasing interest of young people in sustainability and climate issues. It aimed to extend the high levels of participation seen among educated youth to those with fewer opportunities and from less privileged backgrounds. Additionally, our training course sought to address the generalized feeling of powerlessness among young people, exacerbated by recent years of confinement and isolation. The main objectives of LEAFY were: 1.- To provide youth workers with leadership and facilitation skills; 2.- To provide youth workers with tools to work on sustainability and climate action; 3.- To increase the collaboration between ecovillages, sustainable initiatives and youth organisations.
