We were aware of that there are young people who hesitate to apply for DiscoverEU and those who would never apply due to different reasons such as different abilities, cultural background, economy and general difficulties such as low self esteem and fear for the unknown. For these people extra support and motivation work is needed and the safety to travel with others in a small group with leaders. The aim with this project was for more young people in the Örebro region with fewer opportunities to participate in DiscoverEU on the same conditions as their peers. Our objectives for the project were aligned with the EU Youth Strategy: Engage young people, especially those who are not engaged today or have fewer opportunities where this action could be a way to increase engagement. Connect young people locally through a trip together where they can get friends locally but also at a European level through meetings they will do during their trip in Europe. Empower young people, especially young people with fewer opportunities through the opportunity with support to participate in DiscoverEU at the same conditions as their peers and get knowledge and skills of value for them.
