With this project, we wanted to improve enrichment programs - activities like provision for gifted students, work in nature, project work, digital competences. We wanted to improve the methods of cooperation between professionals, to deepen collaboration with the local community, and to influence the collaborative work of students with the practical example of the cooperation of professionals - their mentors. We tried to make progress in the use of information and communication technology in the learning process. We were looking for ways to influence the education of values in the field of ecology, strengthening of national consciousness, mutual aid. Thus, we wanted to improve the soft skills of professional workers, management at different levels, cooperation, persistence at work. That is why several professionals visited the job shadowing activities at work in schools at the same time, so they already had the opportunity to exchange their views on what they had experienced and later to plan collaborative activities in terms of an interdisciplinary approach. We wanted to acquire ideas and skills that would enable us to refine school work in accordance with modern challenges such as caring for a healthy and beautiful environment.
At our school Dr. Janez Mencinger Bohinjska Bistrica, we already had some experience with international projects, which we took into account when planning the current project. Having in mind that our school is the only school in the area in a rural environment, we make a special effort to cooperate with local organizations in order to be embedded in the school community. Cooperation with the Triglav National Park (TNP), Bohinj Tourism, and the Bohinj Tourist Association is valuable for educational work in the field of natural science, ecology and sustainable development. In the field of culture, we cooperate mainly with public libraries, - the Anton Tomaž Linhart Radovljica Library, especially with units in Bohinj (Bohinjska Bistrica, Srednja vas, Stara Fužina) museums and cultural associations in Bohinj. The project activities we carried out empowered professional workers for improvements in their work, especially when working with gifted students, working outside the classroom, in nature, implementing school projects, working with immigrants and students with special needs, it increased motivation to introduce innovations. As part of the school's activities, we payed special attention to provision of gifted students.
