We wanted to develop: - awareness of the growing and interdependent interconnectedness of countries, nations and the need to establish new and different relationships with each other; - self-initiative and entrepreneurship in students; - pro-activeness in students; - digital literacy; - cultural awareness and expression (awareness and expression of one's own identity and way of life, knowledge of the importance of preserving one's own and the others' cultural heritage and cultural creativity, as well as an appreciation of the importance of individual creative expression in general); - social and civic competences, which include the individual's ability to recognise and establish his/her role in society and in interpersonal relationships, to be empowered and included in social environments; - learning about the natural and cultural heritage of neighbouring countries and comparing it with their own (intercultural integration); - the ability to carry out research.
Students are increasingly individualistic and have difficulties communicating, adapting and compromising. There is also a lack of motivation. At our Gymnasium, we have special forms of teaching (ITS electives in 2nd and 3rd year) where we train our students in these communication skills through group work and try to motivate them and prepare them for life by learning from concrete life situations. Our project has been linked to the ITS subjects in a meaningful way, thematically based on the stories of our Alpine world, more specifically culture (myths, legends - social and linguistic ITS) and natural heritage (natural recipes made from Alpine herbs - scientific ITS), and all the time developing digital skills (labels, online publications - computer sc ITS). As we were interested to see what the countries with which we share the Alpine world have in common in these areas, we linked up with partner schools from Italy (Turin) and Austria (Graz) to compare our project work in the context of mobility. Our high school has been carrying out other projects including mobility activities - a long tradition with Serbia, Czech Rep., Japan. This project's content and results can definitely be transferred to these other mobilities in the future
