Objectives

We have been participating in Erasmus+ projects in the field of HED since the beginning of our Vocational College. The answer to this question is found in our European Policy Statement (https://www.bic-lj.si/sites/default/files/inline-files/European%20Policy%20Statement_12dec23_SI.pdf). Mobility projects are crucial for the development and visibility of schools at home and abroad, as well as for the exchange of experience, good practice, and expertise. In the future, we will continue to strengthen cooperation in the field of international activities within the institution, to expand the network of partner institutions and find opportunities for joint projects with foreign countries. As a professional school, we are in constant contact with the Slovenian and foreign professions, which are developing very rapidly. To this end, we organize an international professional conference every two years, which we link to the Erasmus+ program, thus providing our trainees and the professional public with new knowledge from abroad. We will continue to participate in the Community of Higher Professional Schools, which contributes to our international activity by providing additional places for practical training for our students and mobility for our staff. Through international cooperation, we give participants access to the latest trends in the profession we teach, we provide new knowledge and skills development that contribute to successful careers, and we give employees the opportunity for continuous professional development. Further confirmation that we are working in the right direction is the feedback from employers that our students are suitably competent and quickly integrate into the work environment. With our high-quality training programs, expert staff, and international and domestic links, we are among the best educational institutions in the fields we train for, and are thus a co-creator of new trends. Our mobility projects aim to give our students the experience of working abroad. We also strongly encourage mobility among our staff, who are then able to draw on their own international experience to encourage students (and colleagues) to take up a placement abroad. We know from experience that students come back from abroad with new professional and personal skills, and we also use Erasmus+ activities to make them aware of how invaluable the experience of working abroad is and how much it strengthens them in the job market. We also help students to make sense of the experience they have gained and to be able to express it in the form of competences and to include it in their CVs. We learn how to do that with the help of workshops provided from our NA CMEPIUS. Through mobility, our staff reinforce their expertise and ensure that they teach current trends both at home and abroad, equipping students with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills and re-energising them in the field of employability. By linking the Trends and Challenges in Food, Nutrition, Hospitality, Tourism, Education and Training conference with Erasmus+ and through invited speakers, we bring the international experience to the home institution, thus giving the opportunity to those who for various reasons choose not to go abroad to have an international experience. We encourage all our employees and students to participate by promoting additional resources for inclusion. We are internationally involved in many areas of our institution and we try to link these activities together. We are the lead partner of the ENVIRASMUS project (VET, KA2 Large Partnerships), which addresses the Erasmus+ Green Priority. In the framework of the project, we have developed an app and a website to raise awareness of sustainable living among mobility participants and to prepare participants for sustainable living in the host country through a workshop. Erasmus+ students are automatically included in the project. International cooperation plays a key role in our development and in improving the quality and efficiency of our daily operations.
