Objectives

The Faculty of Environmental Protection ("FEP") has already stated in its vision that it wants to become a leading Slovenian higher education institution in the field of education and transfer of (applied) knowledge in environmental sciences, which will be internationally recognisable, open and will follow quality assurance and internationalisation goals/guidelines. Our graduates, learning from practical experience, are well qualified, in demand and well employable in the global labour market in organisations and companies developing environmental solutions and products and solving environmental/nature challenges using future technologies/services. Because environmental concerns are global, and only by working together globally can we take steps in the right direction to improve the state of environmental protection, the Faculty's activities are also globally oriented. International cooperation in the field of education and training is best, easiest and highest quality achieved precisely through the implementation of Erasmus+ programmes and the promotion of Erasmus+ mobility. Thus, the mission of the FVO is, among other things, to promote the mobility of students, higher education teachers and staff and to network internationally in order to enhance knowledge, implement joint programmes and projects and improve the employment opportunities of students at home and abroad. These are also the objectives pursued by the Faculty in the implementation of Erasmus+ projects (both KA1 and KA2). The international dimension of education and research is also defined in the Faculty's strategy, and through the Erasmus+ programmes, we strive to pursue this strategy and meet the objectives set out in it. The mobility of students and staff is regulated by the internal Mobility Policy. Throughout, and even more intensively during the 2022 project, we have pursued the idea that mobility should be open to all those who want to experience it and to upgrade their expertise internationally. In this way, mobilities are open to all potential participants, respecting the principles of equal treatment, non-discrimination and transparency, including those from vulnerable groups. Applicants are always treated equally, regardless of their gender, race, religion or belief, political or other opinion and nationality. We have also demonstrated this by putting a lot of effort into the many coordinating steps to make it possible for a Ukrainian student to study in Slovenia. Even before all the guidelines and recommendations on how to carry out such mobilities were known within the Commission, we found appropriate solutions with the help of the Cmepius administrator. After a few years of stagnation in the field of mobility, which was exacerbated by the outbreak of the epidemic, we tried to motivate both students and staff to look for international synergies again, also through short- and long-term mobility within the Erasmus programme. We succeeded in doing so in the framework of the 2022 project.
