Objectives

The mobility project we implemented under the Erasmus+ programme is part of our broader efforts to achieve international recognition and quality in tertiary vocational education. As an institution located on the outskirts of the capital, we strive to provide high-quality education that equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful participation in the global society. Our vision is based on three pillars: internationalization, innovation, and sustainability. Internationalization is the core goal of the project, as it has become a crucial element of quality education in today’s landscape. The Higher Vocational College of Slovenj Gradec aims to integrate into the European and international higher education space, enriching the learning environment and increasing opportunities for students and staff. Internationalization is reflected not only in mobility but also in the renewal of study programmes, inclusion of foreign experts in teaching and training, and international cooperation with various institutions and companies. The Erasmus+ project plays a key role in achieving these objectives by enabling greater international visibility and strengthening cooperation with European and global institutions. Students acquire knowledge and experience in international settings, improving their prospects in the labour market while international exchanges enhance the quality of education. The project’s goal was to facilitate as many mobilities as possible for both students and staff. Our approach included both long-term and short-term mobilities, allowing students to gain practical experience abroad. Mobility enhances professional competencies such as language skills, intercultural understanding, and adaptability to different work environments. Staff benefit from teaching and training abroad, gaining new perspectives on pedagogical practices and enhancing professional development. They also access innovative educational methods, which are introduced into domestic teaching, thereby raising the overall level of education. In line with our Erasmus Policy Statement, we promote social inclusion and equal opportunities for all participants, regardless of social, economic, or cultural background. All students, including those with fewer opportunities, have equal chances to participate in mobility. Support mechanisms such as tutoring, adjustments for students with special needs, and tailored mobility programmes have been established. The goal is to enable as many students from disadvantaged groups as possible to participate, achieving personal and professional growth. Our institution takes responsibility towards the environment seriously, promoting sustainable development, green transition, and sustainable forms of mobility. We encourage students and staff to use environmentally friendly transport whenever possible and provide financial support for "green travel." Sustainability content is integrated into curricula, raising awareness among students and staff about sustainable practices and encouraging the development of habits that they can apply in daily life and work. Participants also spread knowledge about sustainability within their local communities. We are also active in digital competence development and supporting the digital transition. In line with European digital transformation policy, we have included objectives to strengthen digital skills in the project. Digitalization is increasingly important in modern education, so we have focused on developing digital skills for both students and staff. Mobility participants improved their digital skills through virtual mobility or by acquiring new tools for use in their studies or work. Staff were introduced to new digital teaching and management methods, contributing to the digitalization of our processes. In the future, we plan to increase the use of digital technologies in mobility, making exchanges more flexible and efficient. Through the Erasmus+ project, we aimed to maintain and strengthen our institutional capacity for international cooperation. We established and strengthened international partnerships, crucial for the long-term development of our institution. Cooperation with European higher education institutions allows us to gain new perspectives and experiences that can improve our educational programmes. The project has enhanced our capacity to cooperate effectively at the European level and has reinforced our role as a recognized European educational institution.
