Inclusion of marginalised young peopleBridging intercultural, intergenerational and social divideQuality and innovation of youth work

Objectives

By implementing the project in the Netherlands we wanted to give the participants a unique experience of traveling, getting to know new cultures, connecting and broadening their horizons. We used the socio-cultural project "Traveling Circus" as a tool for working with children, adolescents and young people. We included participants with fewer opportunities in the project and we invited all interested people from the local environment in Enschede to the circus skills workshops, with which we wanted to achieve the greatest possible inclusion, diversity and integration. Young participants taught their peers and everyone else circus skills (juggling with pins and balls, diabolo, walking on a rope, on stilts, a big ball, riding a unicycle). We pursued the following objectives: - getting to know and learning new circus methods, - active leisure, - working on improving concentration and motor skills, - developing creativity, - acquiring and developing various competencies, - practicing and improving the English language, - connecting young people and strengthening their values, - research into new culture, habits and lifestyle, - research into the circus as a common theme of intergenerational bonding, - connecting our and partner organizations with the local environment, - getting to know the circus method of work as a form of street work, - introduction of new work methods with young people in the practice of our organization, - upgrading and strengthening the partnership. We wanted to offer the participants the opportunity to experience something new, acquire and develop new competencies and gain experience that will be important in their further development, personal and career path.
