FUTURE TELLING 4: Dolce vita was international youth exchange program. Partner countries in project were Slovenia, Croatia, Israel, Belgium, Finland, Germany and Italy. The main reason for designing the youth exchange project was the need for the implementation of new knowledge, skills and methods in work with youth in theatre. The primary objective of the project was to empower young people to work in youth theatre. We wanted to present them different methods of working with young people in theatre and film and to encourage them to explore more deeply those that they find the most exciting and they feel most comfortable, and later transfer their knowledge to their peers in the local area. At the same time, the aim was that young people develop a critical attitude towards the topic under discussion. Performative art is a space that not only allows young people to express their point of view, but also provides an audience - the ears that would listen. Thus, we wanted to present the theatre and film as an interactive platform for exploring relationships within a specific topic and within a specific cultural environment. We subtitled this year's project “Dolce vita”. Young people are constantly pointing out the mistakes in the system. We raise the questions on environmental sustainability, the growing problem of racism, xenophobia, and chauvinism… It is time we take a different path: we are declaring the world around us ideal. At the time of the pandemic, the 10 richest earthlings doubled their wealth, meanwhile every 4 seconds in the same world someone dies from the effects of poverty. Great! 252 richest men have more wealth than a billion women from Africa and Latin America? Wonderful! The 20 richest people on earth contribute 8,000 times the carbon footprint of the poorest billion. Great! More than 75 million people in the world are displaced by wars and conflicts. Unforgettable! This is the world we have built! This is the world we have been fighting for, and we are convinced that even though these are the hardships of 99% of our audience, they agree with it. We talked about those subjects and presented the outcome publicly in the form of satirical theatre/film. We showed the audience the happy world no one is willing to change with a clear message: it is time to act! The main objective of the project was to enable young people to express their own views and at the same time to learn how to publicly present their opinion in the form of a theatre performance, film or performance. This year, we chose satire as the performance form and learned how in today's bizarre world this is an extremely effective form for communicating one's opinion. And also how sad satire can be… The project was designed in such a way that young people had the opportunity to participate in all stages of project preparation and implementation, from the research of the material to final performance. Thus, we wanted to allow them the experience to gain additional knowledge that they could later use in their professionallives (project preparation, public relations, organising ...). As part of the project, we made a conference “The role of theatre in the social integration of young people”. The conference was attended also by representatives of other Slovenian youth organization (KD 5. kader Ankaran, JSKD OI Koper, Gledališče čez cesto, Gajbla Koper, Teater Pozitiv, Ljubljana, Gledališka šola Prve gimnazije Maribor, KD Svoboda osvobaja Slov. Konjice).
