Objectives

Youth work plays an important role in society, as it enables young people to acquire competencies for active participation in society and for their personal and social development. Despite the fact that the primary task of all participating organisations (Franc Miklošič High School Ljutomer, Ohrid High School and Mladenovac High School) is to ensure the acquisition of formal knowledge and education, all organisations strive to include informal forms of education in their work and enable young people gaining rich life experiences and ensuring their development. By implementing the project, we wanted to reduce the consequences that the COVID-19 epidemic left in the field of mental health of young people and in the field of unequal access to their inclusion, as some participants come from socio-economically weaker environments, from geographically distant places with poor internet connection, therefore, during the "lockdown" period, they were occasionally even more excluded from the events and had less opportunity to participate in remote activities. That is why we worked even harder to provide all students with the same opportunities and access and the same degree of involvement in various activities. The goals of our project were: Goal 1: To strengthen the psychological resilience of young people. Through various workshops, we strengthened the psychological resilience of young people, which includes strengthening positive self-image, personal flexibility, etc. Goal 2: To familiarise young people with the resources of help available to them in the local environment and online and to encourage them to use them. We investigated where young people can find help in the local environment and where on the web. At the same time, we also taught them to recognise fake news online and warned them about online dangers, thereby strengthening also their digital competence. Goal 3: We emphasized the role of sports and art in the treatment of mental problems. Art served as a starting point for us to talk about health problems and as a means of help. As another mean of (self)help, we highlighted sport activities. Goal 4: To reduce the level of stigmatization of mental health problems. First of all, we investigated the degree of stigmatization of mental health in the individual included countries, because many do not decide to seek professional help because of it. We made our students aware of the importance of taking care of mental health and thus took a step forward against the destigmatization of mental health.
