Objectives

The goal was to address the alarming decline in children's reading literacy and increase the number of children - readers and to promote interest in reading and the development of reading from early childhood and to raise awareness of "better reading techniques and the love of reading". The effort was to achieve the goals using various methods. One of them was the use of the mother tongue so that children better understand a foreign language. We used creative approaches such as music, drama, drawing and comics and improved digital skills, helping students to connect reading skills with social skills. The goal was to support them on their way to mysterious worlds, to make learning more fun and interesting. This is also why children stopped perceiving reading as a boring duty, but as fun. Teachers were actively involved in the activities to know how best to teach and support reading and were inspired to use new innovative techniques in learning. Parents were given tips for using reading with their children at home and outside to improve their reading literacy and love of reading. It was aimed at guiding and supporting pupils on their journey into the "world of words", reading literacy and skills, and encouraging them to read.

Background

During the pandemic years 2020-2021, most schools in the world had to transform their education, as the closure of schools due to the pandemic has seriously affected the lives of children and young people. This situation caused a deterioration in educational outcomes, an increase in the risk of early school leaving and a deepening of differences in educational outcomes. That is why we implemented projects, which were supposed to mitigate the negative effects of closing schools. Children encountered problems such as psychological difficulties due to social isolation, problems with learning and understanding the read text. The goal of each group mobility was to practice reading literacy, to increase interest in reading with the aim of developing the inner and intellectual world of each pupil, to catch pupils with SEN in order to improve the quality of their reading and understanding of the read text, to show them that reading is not a nightmare, to make reading more attractive books, enrich the vocabulary, develop the ability to express oneself thoughts and feelings, search for key words, compare information, reproduce text and educate a generation of young people without prejudices against reading.
